Abisko, North Sweden
We visited this part of Sweden in mid-February as it is reputed to be one of the best places on earth to see the Aurora Borealis - well, we certainly did! And in spectacular form, too - locals were raving about the intensity and quality of the Aurora, including a sighting of a rare red corona. It was quite a trip - we also went dog sledding, snow-shoe trekking and visited the Ice Hotel as well as a Sami Homestead - all in temperatures of around -17C - it truly was an Arctic adventure!
